LOS ANGELES & THE MOVIES
The images most often associated with Los Angeles are those of the movies and the industry which produces them. Hollywood itself is northwest of central L.A. There you will see the recognisable Hollywood sign. Along Hollywood Boulevard you will see the Kodak Theatre, home of the annual Academy Awards. Why not get a tour of the theatre and learn some more about the history of "Oscar"? Along the street itself you can read Hollywood stories set in mosaic as well as search out your favourite star in the Walk of Fame. Many old-fashioned cinema houses are also located here including Mann's Theatre with footprints from movie stars past and present. Hollywood's working film industry is now actually located in the San Fernando Valley, just north of Hollywood central. To see where actors relax off-set, arm yourself with a map of the stars homes, and head to Beverley Hills. To see viewings of your favourite T.V. shows book ahead to get free audience seats at NBC Studios recordings. You might also like to take a tour of Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank. Tours costs $32. Finally, a more morbid attraction might be the Hollywood Forever Cemetery where some famous legends are buried including Douglas Fairbanks and Rudolph Valentino. Public transport on the Metro Red line stops at most of these attractions though coach tours do give detailed sightseeing trips of all the top Hollywood sights.
